Biography

Dr Jianguo Yang is an assistant professor in the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, the Chief Scientist of National key research and development program for young scientist, and the Bo Ya Young Scientist at Peking University. Jianguo got his B.S. degree from Xiamen University in 2010 and got his Ph.D. degree from Peking university in 2015. After four years postdoctoral training, Jianguo joined the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University and set up his own lab group. His research interests focus on nitrogen fixation and plant nitrogen use efficiency. He has published several papers on famous international journals, including PNAS (5 papers), Cell, Science Advances, and Open Biology etc.

Research Interests

We focus on solving nitrogen fertilizer problems in agricultural by using synthetic biology approaches: 1Re-constitution of complex biological systems (mainly nitrogen fixation systems) for heterologous expression; 2Engineering of new rhizosphere microorganisms with higher nitrogen fixation and ammonia secretion abilities; 3Creation of eukaryotic cells (e.g. yeast cell and plant cell) with self-nitrogen fixation abilities; 4Enhancing the nitrogen use efficiency in crops with rational designs.
